Work — Aberdeen Combat Centre

A gym with six disciplines and one page on the internet.

We rebuilt the brand, the site, and the software the gym runs on. Nine weeks, start to finish.

The Aberdeen Combat Centre website: a black poster-style homepage reading 'The home of combat sports in the north east' over a monochrome photograph of a fighter at a Cage Warriors event, with a red band listing the six disciplines.

The gym had outgrown its website.

The site was built for a smaller gym and the gym kept growing. Five things it could no longer do.

  1. 01Six disciplines, and nowhere to send anyone asking about them.
  2. 02A timetable that lived in Instagram messages.
  3. 03Memberships taken by hand, off the website entirely.
  4. 04Thirty-three classes a week, and one page to hold them.
  5. 05Nothing the staff could change without asking someone.

Six directions, all in their colours.

They already had black and red, so nobody was shown blue. The palette was the given; how hard to hit with it was the question. All six are below, including the five they turned down.

Every headline, every time, every price. Always uppercase.

Archivo

Everything else. Body, labels, form fields.

Then we built the half nobody sees.

The Aberdeen Combat Centre timetable page, showing a day selector and the day's classes with start times, disciplines and levels.
The public timetable. The class count in the header is read straight from the database every time the page loads.
The Aberdeen Combat Centre disciplines page, showing cards for Muay Thai, MMA, jiu-jitsu, boxing, wrestling and the kids programme.
Six disciplines, a page each. Six different things people search for, so six pages that can be found.
The Aberdeen Combat Centre membership page, showing plan options and pricing.
Memberships now get bought on the site, at eleven at night, without anyone at the desk.

Also shipped

Stripe memberships with notice periods, a member area with door codes, a coach panel with class registers, four staff roles over nineteen permissions, and a photo library that refuses to delete an image which is live on a page.
